🌸 Valley of Flowers 2025: Officially Open for Tourists

The Valley of Flowers National Park, located in the Garhwal Himalayas of Chamoli district, Uttarakhand, has officially reopened to visitors from June 1, 2025. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a breathtaking high-altitude Himalayan valley bursting with seasonal alpine blooms, mystical scenery, and rare fauna.

Each year, the park remains accessible from June to October, with the floral spectacle peaking in July and August. On opening day this season, 83 enthusiastic visitors trekked into the valley, though only four registered online — showcasing the increasing need for digital pre-planning.

🌍 What is the Valley of Flowers Uttarakhand?

The Valley of Flowers is not just a park — it’s a living canvas of colors. Nestled between 3,250 to 6,750 meters above sea level, the valley stretches across 87.5 square kilometers. This biosphere reserve is home to over 650 species of wildflowers, including exotic Himalayan varieties like:

  • Brahma Kamal (Saussurea obvallata) – Uttarakhand’s state flower
  • Blue Poppy
  • Primula
  • Aster
  • Ranunculus
  • Saxifrage

Discovered by British mountaineer Frank S. Smythe in 1931, the Valley of Flowers has enchanted botanists, nature lovers, and trekkers from across the world.

Besides flora, the park also shelters rare wildlife like the Himalayan black bear, snow leopard, musk deer, Bharal (blue sheep), and red foxes.
